SAMOAN LANGUAGE WEEK

Samoan Language Week, With last-minute preparations
the teachers we were ready, the classes from downstairs
filed with their teachers and were all seated,
our special guests Fr Felise the parish priest along with
our principal, Mr. Coakley and some of our parents were
anxiously waiting for the event to start,
The caretaker of our school, Mr. Tai, dressed as a matai or chief and said a speech, The majority of us didn't understand but some of us could just make out what he was saying by how he was speaking. Moments later The first Samoan dance group, Maululu, lead by Zahara, followed by Leitupo with the Fa’ataupati, and thirdly followed by Charis with the Sasa, and finish with Tupua and his Aiuli, This was the order of how we were going to perform, after only two days of practice we all believed we could do this. Our voices rawr' ed across the room while we were performing, and after Fr taught us to be proud of who we are, of where we come from, to be proud of our culture.

  1. Talofa Charis I really like how you describe how the samoan groups are like the mauluulu, Fa'ataupati, Sasa and manaia and how you put our school care giver the samoan Matai(chief) and Father felise and Mr Coakly.

    yours sincerely Leitupo
